News   Cabaret Gourmet Benefit to Feature Batt and Walsh
Theatregoers who love food or foodies who fancy theatre can indulge their cravings for both at The Play Company's Cabaret Gourmet 2010, which will be held March 8 in the American Airlines Theatre Penthouse.

The gala event, celebrating The Play Company’s 10th anniversary, will feature food from some of New York’s top chefs.  Bryan Batt, Broadway regular and star of the Emmy-nominated drama "Mad Men," will host the evening, which begins at 7 PM.

Tony nominee Barbara Walsh, most recently seen in the Broadway revival of Company, will perform. Actor Alan Cumming will serve as the evening's Honorary Chair. Cumming won a Tony Award for his performance as the Emcee in the 1998 Broadway revival of Cabaret

According to press materials, Cabaret Gourmet 2010 "offers theatergoers and gourmet-food aficionados alike the opportunity to mingle in a cabaret setting and taste epicurean dishes prepared by well-known chefs from around the city."

Chefs for the evening will include Chef George Mendes of Aldea, Chef David DeCarlo of Angus McIndoe, Chef Jehangir Mehta of Graffiti, Chef Nancy Olson of Gramercy Tavern, Chef Mikey Price of Market Table and Chef Josh Eden of Shorty’s 32.

Bryan Batt has been seen on Broadway in La Cage aux Folles, Beauty and the Beast and Cats, among others. He created the role of Salvatore Romano in the hit TV show “Mad Men,” airing on AMC. The Play Company “is dedicated to adventurous new writing by playwrights from the U.S. and around the world, linking NYC artists and audiences to a whole world of plays,” according to press materials.
