Producer Bill Kenwright will produce the production, which will be directed by hot London director Rufus Norris, Kenright told Playbill.com columnist Harry Haun. Norris' hit production of Festen is currently playing London's Lyric Theatre, and is expected on Broadway next season. The revival comes only a decade after the musical was radically reimagined by director Sam Mendes at the Donmar Warehouse. That environmental production, in which the chorus played instruments, the menace of nascent Nazi Germany was emphasized and Alan Cumming stepped up the licentious and seedy qualities of the Emcee, transferred to Broadway, where it played 37 previews and 2,378 performances and won the 1998 Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical.

The musical, which debuted on Broadway in 1966, features a book by Joe Masteroff based on the play I Am a Camera by John Van Druten (which was based on "The Berlin Stories" by Christopher Isherwood), and a score that made John Kander and Fred Ebb's reputation.

Norris won a 2004 Critics' Circle Awards for his direction of Festen. He is an associate director at the Young Vic.
