For more than twenty years, Steve Ross has been doing his thing in the New York cabaret scene, performing at Algonquin Hotel's Oak Room, Firebird Cafe, Rainbow & Stars and other prominent rooms around the city. Jan. 15, he'll lend his talent and experience to the Women's Project and Productions' annual Cabaret Benefit, at Laura Belle.

Ross made his Broadway debut in Noel Coward's Present Laughter, playing the piano and a Cockney valet named Fred. Coward songs are a particular forte for the singer-pianist, along with Cole Porter's witty work. His recordings include "I Won't Dance," "Most of Ev'ry Day" and "Travels With My Piano."

Founded in 1978 by current Artistic Director Julia Miles, Women's Projects and Productions is a non-profit, Off-Broadway theatre company dedicated to the development of new plays by women. Recent productions include Marlane Meyer's The Chemistry of Change, Joan Vail Thorne's The Exact Center of the Universe with Frances Sternhagen, Karen Hartman's Gum with Daphne Rubin-Vega, and Julie Jensen's Two Headed with Lizbeth Mackay.
