Adam Greenfield will direct the production that is scheduled to run through July 10 at Walkerspace in Manhattan. An official opening has been set for June 27. 13P represents a collective of 13 playwrights who have aligned to present fully realized productions of their works.
Cabell (Compulsion, A Man for All Seasons) and Goethals (Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, House of Blue Leaves) lead the two-person cast of the play in which "Rebecca and her chronically unemployed butch girlfriend, O, have created a happy nest in their run-down Queens walk-up. But domestic bliss starts slipping away as their daily lives are overtaken by charming Nazis, family ghosts and the secrets they keep. The two women fight for, and against, each other in this sharp, moving almost-love story," according to 13P.
Designing the production will be Mimi Lien (set design), Ben Kato (lighting design), Sydney Maresca (costume design) and Asa Wember (sound design).
Founded in 2003 to stage fully realized productions, rather than mere readings, 13P comprises Sheila Callaghan, Erin Courtney, Madeleine George, Rob Handel, Ann Marie Healy, Julia Jarcho, Young Jean Lee, Winter Miller, Sarah Ruhl, Katherine Ryan, Lucy Thurber, Anne Washburn and Gary Winter.
Each playwright rotates as artistic director of the company during the dates of production for his or her respective play. Once all of the assembled playwrights in 13P have had their works staged, the group will disband. 13P will also produce plays by Young Jean Lee (P#11), Sarah Ruhl (P#12) and Erin Courtney (P#13) in the coming seasons.
