News Camp Broadway Seeks 600 Kids to Perform Feinstein’s "Give Me a Drum" A final round of auditions will be held Aug. 12 at Theatreworks/Chelsea Studios to find 600 kids, ages 11-14, to perform in the opening number of the 80th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

As previously reported, Michael Feinstein has penned this year's opening number, which is titled “Give Me a Drum” and which features lyrics by Bill Schermerhorn, Macy's creative director. Tony Parise will choreograph the opening, which will include hundreds of children. Camp Broadway, the award-winning theatre arts education company, will hold the auditions at 10 AM on Aug. 12. Those auditioning should bring a completed application, be prepared to sing 16 bars of a song (an accompanist will be provided) and be ready to dance a combination that will be taught by a Broadway choreographer. One-hundred experienced tap dancing kids are also being sought.
