News Carla Gugino, Connie Britton Will Join African Children's Choir for Annual Fundraising Gala Stage and screen actresses Carla Gugino and Connie Britton will co-host the African Children's Choir's annual fundraising gala Oct. 18 at The Box.

The choir, comprising 24 African children, ages seven to eleven, who have lost one or both parents to poverty, war or AIDS, will perform at the fundraiser, and will be joined by cast members from Wicked; The Lion King; Promises, Promises; In the Heights; Memphis and more. Addams Family musical director Mary Mitchell Campbell will serve as musical director for the event.

The evening will begin with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres at 7 PM, with the show starting at 8 PM. A fundraising auction will be also be a part of the event.

Gugino, known for her stage appearances in Suddenly, Last Summer; Desire Under the Elms; and After the Fall (Theatre World Award), has appeared on television in "Entourage," "Karen Sisco" and "Chicago Hope," and on film in the "Spy Kids" movies.

Britton, a 2010 Emmy nominee for her work in "Friday Night Lights," appeared Off-Broadway in The Exonerated.

The African Children's Choir was founded in 1984. A new choir is formed every year, when children from the previous year return to school in Africa, their education entirely funded by the choir. They have established schools and educational scholarships in Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, Sudan, Nigeria, Ghana and South Africa, raising funds through their performances around the world.
