Carmen Cusack, who recently starred in the City Center Encores! staging of Call Me Madam, has landed a role in the NBC musical drama pilot Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, according to Deadline.

Bright Star Tony nominee Cusack will be a series regular in a cast led by Jane Levy. As previously announced, the pilot will also feature Oscar winner Mary Steenburgen and fellow Broadway alums Alex Newell (Once On This Island) and Skyler Astin (Spring Awakening). Richard Shepard directs a script by Austin Winsberg. Casting is by Stewart/Whitley.

The new series concerns Zoey (Levy), who is able to hear the innermost thoughts of those around her; those thoughts take the form of musical numbers performed just for her. Cusack has been cast as Joan, a tech pioneer that runs the office where Zoey works.

Cusack, who was seen in the first season of Sorry for Your Loss, will also appear opposite Tom Hanks in the forthcoming film A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood.
