Presented as a benefit for the Dr. Carol Channing and Harry Kullijian Foundation for the Arts and for the non-profit California Music Circus, the 8 PM evening will be emceed by Channing's Broadway Dolly standby Jo Anne Worley, and feature appearances by Carole Cook and Joyce Aimée. On Sept. 6 at 7 PM Channing will offer a gospel concert, Carol Channing Raises the Roof, as a benefit for the congregation of Altadena Community Church. The evening will feature selections from Channing's gospel CD "For Heaven's Sake" and include a few of her signature songs from her lengthy stage and screen career.
Carol Channing is best known for her Tony-winning turn in the Jerry Herman musical Hello, Dolly! She offered memorable performances Gentleman Prefer Blondes and Lorelei. She also earned an Academy Award nomination for her work in the film "Thoroughly Modern Millie." Her autobiography is entitled "Just Lucky I Guess: A Memoir of Sorts."
