The creative team includes Claibe Richardson (composer), Stephen Cole (lyricist, writer), Philip William McKinley (Director), Matthew Ward (Musical Director), and Ray Clausen (Set Designer).

The Night of the Hunter began in 1954 as a noir novel penned by Davis Grubb. A Southern gothic tale, it follows a committed criminal who attempts to manipulate two children into revealing where their father hid money by pretending to be a priest. The lauded 1955 film version, directed by Charles Laughton, featured Shelley Winters, Lillian Gish and Robert Mitchum. Unlike many recent festival? musicals that parodied famous thriller films (i.e. Poseidon! An Upside-Down Musical, Silence: The Musical), The Night of the Hunter is taking the original story seriously in its musical stage adaptation.

The full cast includes Beth Fowler (Rachel Cooper), Tina Johnson (Miz Cunningham), Mary Stout (Icey Spoon), Brian Noonan (Harry Powell, the Preacher), Carolee Carmello (Willa Harper), Ron Bohmer (Ben Harper), Ellen Harvey (Nellie Boyd), and Louis Hart (Ensemble).

Carolee Carmello, who most recently played Gabrielle in Broadway's Lestat, received a Drama Desk Award and a Tony nomination for her performance in Lincoln Center's Parade. She has also starred on Broadway in Mamma Mia!, Urinetown, Kiss Me, Kate, The Scarlet Pimpernel, 1776, City of Angels and Falsettos. Carmello received an Obie Award for her work in the Off-Broadway musical Hello Again, and her other Off Broadway credits include Elegies, A Class Act, john and jen, Das Barbecu, I Can Get It for You Wholesale and The Vagina Monologues.

Beth Fowler portrayed Peter Allen's mother in The Boy from Oz, earning a Tony nomination for her work. She also received a Tony nomination for her performance as Mrs. Lovett in the revival of Sweeney Todd. Among Fowler's other Broadway credits are Beauty and the Beast, Bells Are Ringing, A Little Night Music, Baby and Teddy and Alice.

Ron Bohmer—who played Sir Percival Glyde in Broadway's The Woman in White—is currently appearing in the long-running Off-Broadway hit musical I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change. Other credits include The Scarlet Pimpernel, The Thing About Men, Les Miserables, Fiddler on the Roof, The Phantom of the Opera, Forbidden Broadway S.V.U. and The Joys of Sex.

Mary Stout was most recently on Broadway starring as Mrs. Fairfax in Jayne Eyre. Her other credits include Me and My Girl, Copperfield, A Change in the Heir, My Favorite Year, A Christmas Carol, and The Radio City Christmas Spectacular.
