The Actors' Repertory Theatre officially opens Diane Samuel's Kindertransport Feb. 20. The show started previews Jan. 30 and runs to June 27 at CA's Santa Monica Playhouse.
A story of the Holocaust and its after effects on children of survivors, Kindertransport begins with Eva, a young refugee, who escapes Germany with almost 10,000 other mostly Jewish children saved from the Holocaust and taken to Great Britain. Fifty years later, her daughter demands to know the family's true history and the reason Eva kept her Jewish identity a secret.
Chris DeCarlo (Author! Author -- an Evening with Sholom Aleichem, The Clown Prince) directs the cast, including Evelyn Rudie, John Waroff and members of the Young Professionals' Company.
Tickets ($18-$20) can be ordered by calling the Playhouse box office at (310) 394-9779. The Santa Monica Playhouse is located at 1211 4th Street.
