The release coincides with the Sept. 28 Chicago launch of the Broadway-aimed national touring production, which reunites the London creative team.
Re-imagined for stage by the original screenwriter Eleanor Bergstein, Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story On Stage "has audiences around the world experiencing this timeless work as never before in a production combining all the intensity and excitement of live theatre with new scenes and thrilling new dances," according to the producers.
Executive produced by Jimmy Ienner and produced by Conrad Helfrich, the original cast recording features the Academy Award-winning song "(I've Had) The Time of My Life," "Do You Love Me?," and new music from the smash stage production, which has also done big business in Toronto and Australia.
Original movie and stage album executive producer Jimmy Ienner stated, "I am very proud to continue the 'Dirty Dancing' legacy in its newest form, and to bring the original cast recording to the U.S. public following their demand and enthusiasm for this album."
