After two years of success, the "environmental musical" Aventurera, has finally released its cast recording starring Itati Cantoral, Carmen Salinas and Alejandro Tommassi.

Among the 24 songs featured in the CD are the title theme by Agustin Lara "Aventurera" and the sexy bolero "Soy lo Prohibido" composed by Roberto Cantoral. The music of "Aventurera" reflects the Mexico City cabaret nights of the 40's and 50's.

Aventurera is based on an A. Custonio's 1949 Mexican film of the same title which starred rumba-dancer Ninon Sevilla, Andrea Palma and Ruben Rojo, and was adapted for the stage by playwright Carlos Olmos (El Eclipse, Fuegos Fatuos).

The musical play is set in Mexico, 1949, and it tells the story of Elena (played by Gonzalez) an innocent young woman who is forced to turn into a prostitute by Rosaura, a mysterious woman who spends nights as the glamorous host of her own nightclub and days as a high society respectable lady. One day, Elena gets tired of Rosaura and leaves that life to become a famous dancing star at a fancy nightclub, where she meets Rosaura´s son, Mario. Elena and Mario fall in love, but she has to decide whether or not to tell him the truth about his mother.

Directed by Enrique Pineda, Aventurera runs at the Salon los Angeles, an actual dancing club in Mexico City. For information and tickets call the Salon los Angeles at 011-5- 597-8847. --By Claudio Carrera
