News Cast Announced for Passing Strange at New Repertory Theatre Cheo Bourne and Cliff Odle will navigate life's musical travelogue in the New Repertory Theatre production of the Tony Award-winning musical Passing Strange.

Kate Warner will direct the production that is set to run May 1-22 in the Charles Mosesian Theater in Watertown, MA. Kelli Edwards will choreograph with musical direction by Todd C. Gordon.

Bourne will play Youth, with Odle as the Narrator. The company will also feature De’Lon Grant (Terry/Christophe/Hugo),
Eve Kagan (Sherry/Mariana/Sudabey), Maurice E. Parent (Franklin/Joop/Mr. Venus),
Cheryl Singleton (Mother) and
Kami Rushell Smith (Edwina/Renata/Desi).

Passing Strange will have scenic by design Eric Levenson, costume design by Gail Astrid Buckley, lighting design by Karen Parsons and sound design by Aaron Mack.

Passing Strange features a Tony Award-winning book by Stew, lyrics by Stew, and music by Stew and his longtime musical partner Heidi Rodewald of The Negro Problem.

With the aid of original director and collaborator Annie Dorsen, Passing Strange incorporates autobiographical elements of Stew's life to tell the story of a young black bohemian who leaves behind his middle-class, church-ruled upbringing in Los Angeles to travel abroad in search of his artistic and personal identity. Passing Strange premiered on Broadway in 2008 following an extended run at the Public Theater in 2007. It played 20 previews and 165 regular performances.
