The opening of the New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) production of Jean Marie Besset's What You Get and What You Expect has been rescheduled for March 28 at 8 PM. Originally scheduled to open March 20, the start was delayed when actor David Chandler was replaced by Daniel Gerroll. No explanation was given for Chandler's departure.

Coincidentally, in 1997, Daniel Gerroll replaced actor Jon Lovitz in Paul Shanley's Psychopathia Sexualis because Lovitz had to pull out of the show "due to obligations for a pending television series." Gerroll's other theatre credits include The Importance of Being Earnest, The Homecoming, Plenty , Translations, Three Birds Alighting on a Field, Blood Poetry, The Holy Terror and The Common Pursuit.

The cast switch was apparently made after previews began on March 3. While production sources did not return a call by press time, the NYTW box office is still announcing that the show will run through April 9, "at this time."

Besset's play was translated by Hal J. Witt and will be directed by Christopher Ashley. The seven-member cast for the show comprises Stephen Caffrey, T. Scott Cunningham, Daniel Gerroll, Adam Greer, Peter Jacobson, Kathryn Meisle and Pamela Payton-Wright.

The production team for What You Get and What You Expect includes set designer Klara Zieglerova, lighting designer Frances Aronson, costume designer Amela Baksic, sound designer Kurt Kellenberger and production stage manager Lee Kahrs. Tickets for the show are $45 with certain discounts and "rush" tickets available. NYTW is located at 79 East 4th Street. For information call (212) 460-5475.
