News Cast Set for Staged Reading of Bill Russell's Fourtune A staged reading celebrating the 25th anniversary of Bill Russell and Ron Melrose's Fourtune will be held Aug. 8 to benefit the LGBT Community Center.

Fourtune, which marked the professional writing debuts of Russell (book and lyrics) and Melrose (music), concerns "a singing group whose backstage relationships are gay, confused and entangled." The upcoming reading will feature the talents of Light in the Piazza's David Burnham, La Cage aux Folles' Angela Gaylor, All Shook Up's Mark Price and Lucky Duck's J. B. Wing. Show time is 7 PM. Michael Lavine is the musical director for the staged reading. The band will include Jeff Potter (drums), Brian Hamm (bass) and Steve Tarshis (guitar).

Fourtune debuted in 1980 at the Actor's Playhouse, where it ran 241 performances. Bill Russell, who wrote the book and lyrics for Side Show, also penned the book and lyrics for Off-Broadway's Angels, Punks and Ranging Queens and Pageant. His other book/lyric credits include Lucky Duck, Kept, The Texas Chainsaw Musical and Family Style.
