News   Casting Announced for Ain't Misbehavin' at Cleveland Play House
Aurelia Williams, Angela Grovey and Christopher L. Morgan will star in the Fats Waller revue Ain't Misbehavin' for the Cleveland Play House, beginning Jan. 29.

Kent Gash will stage the production that will officially open Feb. 3 and run through Feb. 21 in the Bolton Theatre. Ain't Misbehavin' is a co-production with Arizona Theatre Company and San Jose Repertory Theatre.

In addition to Williams (All Shook Up), Grovey (The Wiz, Wig Out) and Morgan (Purlie, Kiss Me, Kate), the cast features Rebecca A. Covington (Thoroughly Modern Millie national tour) and Ken Robinson (tick, tick … BOOM! at Westport Country Playhouse).

According to press notes, "The Harlem Renaissance was the Golden Age for venues like The Cotton Club and The Savoy Ballroom; a time when the dives along Manhattan’s Lenox Avenue were ablaze from stride piano players banging out a new beat – swing. Ain't Misbehavin' is a vibrant musical revue and tribute to the black musicians of the first four decades of the 20th century, centering on the music of Thomas Fats Waller."

Conceived by Richard Maltby, Jr., the musical features the songs "Squeeze Me," "I've Got a Feeling I'm Falling," "The Joint Is Jumpin'," "Mean to Me," "Your Feets Too Big," "Keepin' Out of Mischief Now," "I'm Gonna Sit Right Down and Write Myself a Letter" and the title song.

Designing the production are Emily Beck (scenic design), Austin K. Sanderson (costume design) and William H. Grant (lighting design). Byron Easley will choreograph with musical direction by Darryl G. Ivey. Tickets are available by phoning (216) 795-7000 or by visiting ClevelandPlayhouse.

Founded in 1915, the Cleveland Play House has presented the world premieres of Randal Myler's It Ain't Nothin' but the Blues, Michele Lowe's The Smell of the Kill, Eric Coble's Bright Ideas and Seth Greenland's Jerusalem.
