News Casting Announced for Alliance Production of Ruhl's Eurydice Casting is complete for Atlanta's Alliance Theatre production of Sarah Ruhl's Eurydice, which will play the Hertz Stage March 14-April 13 with an opening night set for March 19.

Ruhl's vision of the Orpheus myth from Eurydice's point of view begins as Eurydice dies on her wedding day. "Determined to be reunited with his beloved wife, Orpheus journeys through the Underworld intent on bringing Eurydice back to the land of the living. Eurydice, now reunited with her dearly loved late father, must choose between the love of her father and love for her husband. Emotions collide as she tries to hold on to love and life while discovering the harsh and tragic rules of death, memory and choices," according to production notes.

The Eurydice cast will include Justin Adams (Orpheus), Andrew Benator (Nasty and Interesting Man/Lord of the Underworld), Neal A. Ghant (Big Stone), Melinda Helfrich (Eurydice), Paul Hester (Little Stone), Chris Kayser (Father), and Courtney Patterson (Loud Stone).

A co-production with Georgia Shakespeare company, Eurydice is directed by Georgia Shakespeare producing artistic director Richard Garner. The creative team includes Kat Conley (set designer), Miranda Hoffman (costume designer), Justin Townsend (lighting designer), Clay Benning (sound designer) and Celise Kalke (dramaturg).

Eurydice, penned by Pulitzer Prize finalist Sarah Ruhl (The Clean House), enjoyed an acclaimed and extended Off-Broadway run last season at Second Stage Theatre.

Tickets are available by calling (404) 733-5000 or by visiting www.alliancetheatre.org. The Alliance Theatre is located within the Woodruff Arts Center, at the corner of Peachtree Street and 15th Street, in Atlanta, GA.
