Brothers Tom Megan and Jack Megan collaborated on book, music and lyrics for the musical about a Catholic schoolboy who falls for his drama teacher. It will play a six-performance run Sept. 26-Oct. 7 at the Theater at St. Clement's.

Barre will direct a cast including Eric Anderson (South Pacific), Jillian Louis (The Piper), Tina Stafford (I Married Wyatt Earp), Kyle Brenn (West Side Story), Leah Greenhaus (Shrek), Matthew Gumley (The Addams Family), Alison Jaye Horowitz (Mary Poppins), Rachel Resheff (The People in the Picture) and Sarah Safer (Whistle Down the Wind).

According to the authors, "Billy’s the new kid at Our Lady Of Perpetual Motion and he has a lot to learn about parochial school. When he meets his drama teacher Sister Katherine, a beguiling novice who jogs and sings like Julie Andrews, Billy falls hopelessly in love, resolving to become Pope and change the rules of the church so that they can one day marry. A charming musical comedy about first loves, youthful obsession, and the search for miracles."

The Boy Who Would Be Pope will have music direction and arrangements by Jeffrey Lodin, set design by David Esler, costume design by Isabel Rubio and sound design by Shannon Slaton.

Barre has also staged the recent tour of Pippin, which launched at the Goodspeed Opera House, as well as the tour of Cinderella and Off-Broadway's Jon and Jen, Summer of '42 and Almost, Maine. For further information visit NYMF.
