News Casting Announced for World Premiere Musical Wanda's World Casting has been announced for the world premiere of the new musical Wanda's World, which is set to begin performances at the 45th Street Theatre Jan. 16, 2008.

First developed in the cradle of the BMI Lehman Engel Workshop, Wanda's World will play a limited engagement at the Off-Broadway venue through Feb. 3. An official opening has been set for Jan. 23. The musical is presented by Amas Musical Theatre in association with Terry Schnuck.

Tony nominee Lynne Taylor-Corbett directs the new "tween" musical with a cast including Sandie Rosa as Wanda, Lakisha Anne Bowen, Jennifer Bowles, Michael Dexter, James Royce Edwards, Leo Ash Evans, Devin Ilaw, Heather Jane Rolff, Christine Scharf, Chris Vettel and Valerie Wright.

Joining Taylor-Corbett on the creative team are Douglas Oberhamer (musical direction), Beowulf Boritt (set design), Aaron Spivey (lighting design), Brett Jarvis (sound design) and Matthew Myhrum (video design).

Featuring music and lyrics by Beth Falcone with a book by Eric H. Weinberger, Wanda's World follows Wanda Butternut, a young girl with a birthmark on her face who dreams of being accepted by her fellow classmates. In her fantasy life Wanda creates her own talk show where she helps other kids solve their problems. However, her real life is a different story, and Wanda finds that her schoolmates still judge a book by its cover.
