News Catch Me If You Can Reading Set for July A reading of the Broadway-bound musical Catch Me If You Can — based on the 2002 DreamWorks film of the same name — will be presented in Manhattan in July.

A casting notice reveals that the reading process will be July 16-27. Catch Me If You Can features a score by the Tony-winning Hairspray team: music by Marc Shaiman and lyrics by Scott Wittman and Shaiman. Terrence McNally penned the book.

The ever-busy Jack O'Brien will direct the musical with choreography by Legally Blonde's Jerry Mitchell.

Auditions are scheduled for May 9 and 10; the producers are seeking actors to play the roles of Frank Jr., Cheryl Ann, Roger, Carl Hanratty, Frank Sr., Paula, Brenda and Carol as well as an ensemble of singers.

The film told the true story of Frank Abagnale, Jr., a compulsive young con man and the federal agent who pursues him over many years. Starring in the picture were Leonardo DiCaprio and Hanks, as well as Christopher Walken as the father of the DiCaprio character.

Nathan Lane starred in an August 2006 workshop of Catch Me If You Can. A fall 2005 reading featured Matthew Morrison at Frank Abagnale, Jr; Lane as Hanratty; Tom Wopat as Frank Abagnale, Sr; Christine Ebersole as Paula Abagnale; Celia Keenan-Bolger as Brenda and Sara Gettelfinger as Cheryl Ann. The ensemble included Chester Gregory, Shayna Steele, Luther Creek and Mylinda Hull.
