News Caty Bridgewater to Feature Sharnell, Tedder, Branker and More STEP Theatre Company will present the first act of the new musical Caty Bridgewater March 1 at 4 and 7 PM at Alvin Ailey Dance Studios.

Book and lyrics are by Trey Tatum, and music and lyrics by Bobby Cronin. David Alpert directs.

The cast will feature LaQuet Sharnell (Memphis, Lion King), Cary Tedder (Memphis), Bree Branker (Encores! Girl Crazy and Finian's Rainbow) and Brian Gallagher. The ensemble includes Amos Wolff, Jessica Dillan, Jack Chambes, Lauren Strigari, Chase Madigan and Cassandra Sandberg.

Caty Bridgewater, according to press notes, is "a coming of age story about quirky and wide-eyed Caty's quest for love, acceptance, and musical passion."

The production also features choreography by Andrew Turtelbaum and musical direction by Barbara Anselmi.

The show is the first production for STEP Theatre Company, a non-profit organization that will infuse the collaborative art of musical theatre with elements more commonly seen in theatre and dance companies, according to their website.
