News Celebration of Late Theatrical Wig Maker Bob Kelly Set for October This Is Your Life Bob Kelly, a celebration of the life and legacy of theatrical wig maker Bob Kelly, who died in April at age 87, will be held at The York Theatre in Manhattan Oct. 2.

Family and friends of the late Kelly are invited to attend the event, which will begin at 6 PM with cocktails followed by the 7:15 PM tribute.

Mr. Kelly spent more than 60 years in the wig and make-up business, working on Broadway, movies and television. In 1958 he founded Bob Kelly Wig Creations, which eventually grew to include a theatrical make-up line. During his long career, Mr. Kelly worked on countless Broadway shows, including A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, The Rothschilds, High Spirits, South Pacific, Fiddler on the Roof, Legally Blonde and Beauty and the Beast. His last Broadway credit was the musical Shrek. He retired in 2009 at age 85. In 2012 a wig-making scholarship will be set up in his memory.

Those unable to attend can make a donation in memory of Bob Kelly to the Actors Fund, 729 7th Avenue, New York, NY 10019; include Bob Kelly’s name on the memo line of the check.
