Justin Bond, of the pair Kiki and Herb, will emcee. Other performers will include Julie Atlas Muz, Adam Dugas, Rachelle Garniez, Helen Stratford, Tigger!, Daniel Eisengart and The Pixie Harlots. Weimar New York debuted at Joe's Pub on March 27, and the second edition of the show went up on Sept. 21 in the Spiegeltent at South Street Seaport.
According to the Joe's Pub website, "Weimar New York is a theatrical cabaret that juxtaposes the aesthetic and music of Weimar-era Berlin with that of the contemporary downtown performance scene in New York City. Performers come to the show from a variety of backgrounds: from classically trained singers and musicians to performance artists and burlesque acts. The evening celebrates the spirit of creative resistance that thrives in response to conservative political forces be they the rising tides of Nazism in Weimar Germany or fundamentalist Christianity taking root in the contemporary United States."
According to the Weimar New York website, discussions are underway with London producer Rachel Mars to develop a UK version of Weimar New York.
Joe's Pub is located within the Public Theater, which is at 425 Lafayette Street. For tickets, priced $25, call (212) 967-7555 or visit the Joe's Pub website. For more information visit www.weimarnewyork.com.
