Michael Cerveris, who has received rave reviews for his portrayal of Giorgio in the Kennedy Center production of Stephen Sondheim's Passion, will offer a concert at the Center's Millennium Stage on Aug. 18.

Cerveris and his band will present a free evening of rock-n-roll tunes beginning at 6 PM. The actor-singer received a Tony Award nomination for his performance in the title role of The Who's Tommy, a part he also played for two years in Germany. He originated the role of architect Thomas Andrews in the Tony-winning musical Titanic and also appeared onstage in Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Total Eclipse, Abingdon Square and Life Is a Dream. Cerveris' film and television credits include the recent Fox series "American Embassy" as well as "Fame," "Equalizer," "Strangers," "Tokyo Pop," "Steel and Lace" and "Rock and Roll High School Forever." He has also enjoyed success as a rock guitarist-vocalist in both the U.S. and U.K.

Other Sondheim Celebration actors who offered concerts at the Millennium Stage this summer include Alice Ripley, Judy Kuhn, John Barrowman, Christy Baron and Anna Bergman. Their taped performances can be viewed on-line at www.kennedy-center.org.

The final Aug. offering at the Millennium Stage is Mary Jane Raleigh, who is currently appearing in Merrily Will Roll Along. Raleigh will perform her cabaret act, "What I Know," on Aug. 20. The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is located in Washington, D.C., at 2700 F. Street.
