Kimball and Glover, who have been with Memphis since its early stages and two pre-Broadway try-outs, will now continue with the musical for another year. Both received Tony Award nominations for their work and were invited by the Obama administration to perform in Washington, DC, this past year.

Also signing on through September are Derrick Baskin, J. Bernard Calloway and James Monroe Iglehart. Original cast members Cass Morgan and Michael McGrath have also extended their contracts with the Broadway production.

The rock musical about an interracial love affair in the 1950's segregated South broke records for the Oct. 4-10 week, when the production grossed over $1 million for the first time since it arrived on Broadway in September 2009. Memphis earned the 2010 Tony Award for Best Musical.

Memphis will launch a national tour in its namesake city at the Orpheum Theatre in October 2011. In April 2010, Tony Award-winning lyricist and book writer Joe DiPietro told Playbill.com that a movie adaptation is also in development.

Bon Jovi songwriter and band member David Bryan and DiPietro (I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change) penned the score to the musical flavored with gospel, R&B, rock and soul sounds. Memphis opened on Broadway Oct. 19, 2009, at the Shubert Theatre under the direction of Christopher Ashley.

Songs in the production are "Underground," "The Music of My Soul," "Ain't Nothin' But a Kiss," "Everybody Wants to Be Black on a Saturday Night," "Make Me Stronger," "Colored Women," "Someday," "She's My Sister," "Radio," "Say a Prayer," "Big Love," "Love Will Stand When All Else Falls," "Stand Up," "Change Don't Come Easy," "Memphis Lives in Me" and "Steal Your Rock 'n' Roll."
