Now in its 9th season, Stories on Stage celebrates the work of culturally diverse writers by having seasoned actors read short fiction works at the Denver Performing Arts Complex.

On Sept. 26 Stories on Stage will present Nobody Likes a Smartass with readings from Rachel Fowler ("You're Ugly Too" by Lorrie Moore); Frank Corrado ("Bullet in the Brain" by Tobias Wolff); Elgin Kelley ("A Message from the Sarge" by Kendal Muse); and Lauren Klein ("A Good Man is Hard to Find" by Flannery O'Connor).

Teetering at the Edge on Oct. 25 will feature Kathleen Chalfant ("In Black" by David Schickler); Michael Learned ("The Possibility of Evil" by Shirley Jackson); Robert Gossett ("Silver Bullet" by James Alan McPherson); and Candy Brown ("I Hate My Purse" by Nora Ephron).

From Nov. 14-15, Stories will present Everybody Wants to Be a Rock Star, featuring Jacob Rubin's "Little Stones, Little Pistols," performed by the Buntport Theater Company.

Making Merry, presented on Dec. 13, will feature Mahira Kakkar ("The Gift of the Magi" by O. Henry); Randy Moore ("The Wind in the Willows" by Kenneth Grahame); Jacqueline Antaramian ("Vera's First Christmas Adventure" by Arnold Bennett); and Jamie Horton ("Another Christmas Carol" by P.G. Wodehouse). On Feb. 21, 2010, As Time Goes By includes readings by Nick Sugar ("Gabriella, My Heart" by Cristina Henriquez); Charlotte Booker ("The Debutante's Return" by Jay McInerney); Ping Wu ("In the Reign of Harad IV" by Steven Millhauser); and John Hutton "Changes in the Memory After 50" by Steve Martin).

Nothing Ventured, offered on April 18, 2010, will feature Shishir Kurup ("A Spoiled Man" by Daniyal Mueenuddin); Dylan Baker ("A Piece of Pie" by Damon Runyon); Becky Ann Baker ("Summary Judgment" by Jay McInerney); and Sam Gregor ("Antiheroes" by George Saunders).

Stories' final offering on May 23, 2010, No Holds Barred, is set to include John Rubinstein ("Sorry Fugu" by T.C. Boyle); Jonathan Nichols ("The Legend of Pig-Eye" by Rick Bass); and Kathy Brady and Randy Moore ("A Dollar a Day" by Abbott and Costello).
