News Charo Postpones Engagement in Off-Broadway's Girl Talk: The Musical Television personality Charo, who made more than 45 appearances on "The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson," has postponed her limited engagement in Girl Talk: The Musical, which is scheduled to begin previews Nov. 3 at the Times Square Arts Center.

The performer had been scheduled to play a two-week engagement in the new musical, continuing through opening night on Nov. 14.

In a statement producers of the musical said, "Regrettably, Charo must withdraw from Girl Talk at this time to deal with family commitments, but hopes to be able to join the show in Philadelphia next month as scheduled, and come to NYC to make her Off-Broadway debut after the first of the year. She remains committed to the production and is looking forward to embarking on this exciting new journey as soon as possible."

Directed by Sonya Carter, Girl Talk will feature the previously reported director Carter, Priscilla Fernandez, Tina Jensen, Lauren Kairalla and radio personality Valerie Smaldone.

Girl Talk: The Musical was conceived by Tim Flaherty and written by Louise Roche (author of Girls Night: The Musical).

The production, according to press notes, "features hit songs from some of today’s leading female recording artists including Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Carrie Underwood, and Gretchen Wilson, to name a few. . . After 10 years, 'Girl Talk' must end and the girls are going out in style! Over the course of the final broadcast the two sparing hosts, their favorite sex therapist guest and the shows neurotic producer learn that men and jobs can come and go, but girlfriends are forever!"

Performances are scheduled for Wednesday-Friday 8 PM, Saturday at 5 PM and 8 PM, and Sunday at 3 PM.
