The Ephrons' play, based on Ilene Beckerman's book of the same name, will play a 12-week run beginning Sept. 21. Daryl Roth produces the work "about clothes and the memories they trigger." It will officially open Oct. 1.
A rotating cast of stage and screen actors has been assembled, including Tony winners Tyne Daly, Kristin Chenoweth, Mary Louise Wilson and Katie Finneran, as well as Rita Wilson and Samantha Bee. The three five-member casts will play four-week engagements during the run. Additional actresses are expected to be announced.
Karen Carpenter directed the Monday night readings of Love, Loss, and What I Wore that were presented this past winter and spring as a benefit for Dress for Success. O'Donnell, Daly, Bee and Finneran all participated in the readings.
The Off-Broadway benefit readings also boasted appearances by Marian Seldes, Rondi Reed, America Ferrera, Debi Mazar, Marlo Thomas, Blythe Danner, Christine Lahti, Parker Posey, Kathy Najimy, Julie White, Kelly Bishop, Sarah Jones, Veanne Cox and Kristen Wiiig.
Carpenter will again direct the Off-Broadway engagement, a portion proceeds from which will also benefit Dress for Success.
