Director Walter Bobbie is expected to make a curtain speech following the afternoon performance at the Shubert Theatre. Ruthie Henshall and Sandy Duncan will also appear, in anticipation of their performances in the national tour in Boston April 22-May 16, and then on Broadway starting May 25.

The 1975 John Kander-Fred Ebb-Bob Fosse musical about how crime pays in 1920s Chicago, was "rediscovered" in a concert presented by "Encores!" in 1996. Producers Barry and Fran Weissler lifted the staging, for which Ann Reinking choreographed "in the style of" Fosse, to Broadway, where it won the 1997 Best Revival and spawned numerous tours.

The vaudeville pastiche score include "All That Jazz," "Nowadays," "Razzle Dazzle," "Roxie" and "Mr. Cellophane." Chicago opened on Broadway Nov. 14, 1996, at the Richard Rodgers Theatre and later moved to the Shubert. The original staging, which starred Chita Rivera and Gwen Verdon beginning in June 1975, ran 923 performances.
