CHICAGO -- Chicago critics can take it as well as give it out. On June 15 they'll join local actors from all over town as part of The ReVoltaire Benefit, a fundraiser to further the quest for a new location for the recently-shuttered Voltaire Theatre. The former happy home of countless embattled Chicago theaters, Clark Street's Cafe Voltaire closed May 15 after hosting a decade of enterprising, low-budget local ventures in its busy basement theater.
The good-natured event will feature guest performances by members of the Chicago theatre press corps, including Jack Helbig, Chris Jones, Lucia Mauro, Jonathan Abarbanel, Mary Shen Barnidge and this writer.
