Run by 24-year-old Jon Sandys, Movie Mistakes reports that the film with the most errors is this season’s “The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring,” which features 196 faults. Other front-runners include “The Matrix” (191 errors), “Titanic” (163), “Spider-Man” (158) and “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (153).

Comparatively, the Miramax film of “Chicago,” recently nominated for 13 Academy Awards, has relatively few inconsistencies, 13. Some of the errors spotted by eagle-eyed “Chicago” viewers follow:

•In the scene where Roxie is asking Mama for a blanket because she feels cold, look at what's in her hands. She is already holding three blankets.

•In the final scene when Velma and Roxie are performing, there is lipstick on Roxie's teeth. In the next shot it has disappeared.

•As Roxie is being escorted into the murderers' row, Mama and Roxie pass Velma's cell. The dollar Velma gives Mama is a modern one. •In the scene after Roxie has been found not guilty, the pressmen run outside to see the woman who shot her lawyer. Roxie looks out the window, where there are drops of rain running down the pane, however in the shot outside the courthouse it isn't raining.

•In the scene in which Roxie shoots her lover, he looks into her mirror while putting on his tie. He ties it, then puts down his collar. He turns away from the mirror and there's shot of his back. His collar is up again.

Featuring a star-studded cast led by Renée Zellweger (Roxie Hart), Catherine Zeta-Jones (Velma Kelly) and Richard Gere (Billy Flynn), the "Chicago" company also includes John C. Reilly (Amos Hart), Dominic West (Fred Caseley), Christine Baranski (Mary Sunshine), Queen Latifah (Mama Morton) as well as Taye Diggs, Colm Feore, Lucy Liu, Mya, Marc Calamia, Deidre Goodwin, Sebastian La Cause, Mary Ann Lamb and a cameo from original Chicago star Chita Rivera.

Marshall, the choreographer of Broadway's Kiss of the Spider Woman and the revivals of Damn Yankees, She Loves Me, Cabaret and Little Me, directed the $45 million film, his motion-picture debut. Bill Condon wrote the "Chicago" screenplay for Miramax Studios, and the film's cinematographer was Dion Beebe. The Tony-winning lighting team of Jules Fisher and Peggy Eisenhauer lit the film.

John Kander and Fred Ebb's musical, which features such songs as "All That Jazz," "Mister Cellophane," "Class" and "Nowadays," debuted on Broadway in June 1975 with choreography by the late Bob Fosse and a cast led by Gwen Verdon, Chita Rivera and Jerry Orbach. The Tony-winning revival opened in November 1996 with Bebe Neuwirth, Ann Reinking, Joel Grey and James Naughton in the lead roles. Featuring direction by Walter Bobbie and choreography by Reinking "in the style of Bob Fosse," the musical satire recently reopened at the Ambassador Theatre Jan. 29 after a lengthy run at the Shubert.
