The work will be performed through February 19 on a double bill with Purcell's Dido and Aeneas, with mezzo-soprano Susanne Mentzer as Dido. Lillian Groag is the director; scenery is by John Conklin. Leppard will conduct.
The season also includes Mozart's Abduction From the Seraglio, conducted by Jane Glover, the music director of Chicago's Music of the Baroque, and the Chicago premiere of John Adams' Nixon in China. The latter production features Robert Orth, who has sung the title role in productions around the country.
