CHICAGO--Actors should be careful about proclaiming their presence. This week one local performer had hoped to try out at the League of Chicago Theatres' annual Unified Auditions, where Chicago actors display their talents before several theatres at once. But police, not producers, were there to greet this threatened thespian. They had traced him to the auditions from his cellular phone calls. The actor, it seems, was wanted in several states for credit card fraud. He did not get to audition, except before a judge. Too bad--the scene from Other People's Money might have had extra impact. -- By Lawrence Bommer
