Chicago's Eclipse Will Make 2010 Miller Time

News   Chicago's Eclipse Will Make 2010 Miller Time
Eclipse Theatre Company, the Chicago troupe that devotes one season to one writer, will offer three plays by Arthur Miller in 2010.

Its Miller titles will be After the Fall, Resurrection Blues and A View From the Bridge. Dates and participating artists will be announced in the future.

Eclipse's current 2009 season is the second and final year of celebrating its past ten years of the mission of "One Playwright, One Season." Eclipse Theatre's "2009 Season: Celebration Series Part II" showcases past featured playwrights Rebecca Gilman (2006), Pearl Cleage (2007), John Guare (2002), Romulus Linney (2001) and Keith Reddin (2004).

Here's the 2010 season at a glance:

After the Fall, opening March 2010: "This deeply personal 1964 play, which Miller says takes place in the mind, thought, and memory of Quentin," explores personal relationships and political loyalties through one man's examination of his life."

Resurrection Blues, opening July 2010: "Miller's penultimate play, published in 2002, humorously and powerfully satirizes the strength of faith — religious, political and personal — as a repressive dictatorship prepares to crucify a possibly divine prisoner in front of American television audiences." A View From the Bridge, opening November 2010 (pending rights): "This 1955 classic, set in a close-knit Italian-American neighborhood in Brooklyn, explores a father's response as his safety and family are threatened by his decision to protect his cousins from immigration officials."

All productions in Eclipse Theatre Company's 2010 Arthur Miller season will take place at the Greenhouse Theater Center, 2257 N. Lincoln Ave. For more information call (773) 404-7336 or visit
