News Chicago's Non-Equity Jeff Awards Handed Out June 6; Big River, Cabaret, Cats, Lobby Hero Among Nominees The 2011 Non-Equity Jeff Awards, honoring excellence in Chicago theatres not under a union contract — for productions that opened between April 1, 2010, and March 31, 2011 — will be given out June 6. This is the 38th anniversary ceremony.

The companies that earned the most nominations are Hypocrites (with 14) and Theo Ubique Cabaret Theatre in association with Michael James (with 12).

Nominees for the 2011 Non-Equity Jeff Awards were announced April 28 in Chicago, where audiences have, for years, embraced work by both union and non-union professional theatre artists.

The Equity Jeff Awards will be announced later in the year; that ceremony is in the fall.
