News Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Launches National Tour in Florida Nov. 18 Following a weekend of technical performances in Ft. Myers, FL, the national tour of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang — the stage musical based on Ian Fleming's novel and the film of the same name — officially launches Nov. 18 at the Broward Center in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

Following its Ft. Lauderdale run, the musical — which boasts an entirely new creative team — will play stops in Tampa, FL; Appleton, WI; Toronto, Ontario; Baltimore, MD; Dayton, OH; Huntsville, AL; Chicago, IL; San Antonio, TX; Houston, TX; Pittsburgh, PA; Providence, RI; Columbus, OH; Raleigh, NC; Philadelphia, PA; Orlando, FL; Atlanta, GA; Indianapolis, IN; Amarillo, TX; Albuquerque, NM; Salt Lake City, UT; Tempe, AZ; Dallas, TX; Costa Mesa, CA; Denver, CO; and Kansas City, MO.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang features music and lyrics by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman. Jeremy Sams adapted the show for the London and Broadway stage. The tour features a script adapted by Ray Roderick, who also directs.

The cast is led by Steve Wilson as Caractacus Potts, Kelly McCormick as Truly Scrumptious, Dick Decareau as Grandpa Potts, George Dvorsky as Baron/Lord Scrumptions, Elizabeth Ward Land as Baroness/Miss Phillips, Dirk Lumbard as Boris, Scott Cote as Goran, Richard G. Rodgers as Coggins/Toymaker, Oliver Wadsworth as Junkman/Childcatcher, John Saunders as Sid, Ellie Mooney as Violet and Mark Chmiel, Timothy Hughes, Matthew Brandon Hutchens, Kent M. Lewis, John Saunders and Eric Shorey as The Inventors. Jeremy Lipton and Zachary Carter Sayle alternate in the role of Jeremy Potts; Aly Brier and Camille Mancuso share the role of Jemima Potts.

The ensemble comprises Bianca Burgess, Mark Chmiel, Paige Faure, Trey Gillen, Geoffrey Goldberg, Timothy Hughes, Matthew Brandon Hutchens, Chris Klink, Kent M. Lewis, Molly Mahoney, Ellie Mooney, Tiffany Lee Ocvirk, Michelle Petrucci, John Saunders, Eric Shorey and Molly Tynes.

The production also features set and costume designs by Anthony Ward with additional set designs by Robert Bissinger, lighting designs by Charlie Morrison and choreography by Joanne Hunter. Big League Productions, Inc. is presenting the tour by arrangement with Dana Broccoli, Barbara Broccoli, Michael G. Wilson, Frederick Zollo, Nicholas Paleologos, Jeffrey Sine, Harvey Weinstein, East of Doheny Theatricals, Michael Rose Limited and MGM On Stage.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang played its final performance at Broadway's Hilton Theatre Dec. 31, 2005. Chitty, billed as a "fantasmagorical stage musical," began Broadway previews March 27, 2005, and officially opened April 28. The production played 34 previews and 285 regular performances. Adrian Noble directed with musical staging by Gillian Lynne, sets and costumes by Anthony Ward, lighting by Mark Henderson, sound design by Andrew Bruce, orchestrations and dance arrangements by Chris Walker, musical supervision by Robert Scott and musical direction by Kristen Blodgette.
