Chris Gethard: Career Suicide, a new comedy about depression, suicide and alcoholism, will debut Off-Broadway this fall. The one-man show is written and performed by Gethard, directed by Kimberly Senior (Disgraced) and produced by Judd Apatow.

Performances will begin October 5 at the Lynn Redgrave Theater ahead of an official opening night on October 13.

Following an acclaimed, sold-out run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Chris Gethard: Career Suicide is a solo play that delves deep into the comedian’s experiences with mental illness and how he has been able to find hope in unexpected places.

“People have expressed to me that making comedy about depression is insensitive. I vehemently disagree,” said Gethard in a press statement. “We need to start laughing about this stuff, so maybe we can finally be comfortable talking about it afterwards. I just try to make sure my jokes come from an honest place, and unfortunately for me being honest means copping to the fact that I once crashed a car on purpose.”

“Sometimes comedy allows us to deal with stuff that we aren't quite ready to deal with. And depression is something that people still don't like to talk about it," added Apatow. “Luckily, Chris Gethard is a hilarious storyteller and is willing to talk about all of it, to what can only be referred to as an ill advised degree.”

Tickets for Chris Gethard: Career Suicide can be purchased by visiting CareerSuicideShow.com or calling OvationTix at (866) 811-4111. The Lynn Redgrave Theater is located at 45 Bleecker Street, New York.
