Produced by Greg Tully for the Platform Theatre Group, the play, which concerns the life of America's first famous transsexual, will officially open Feb. 26 and run through March 15. Directed by Josh Hecht, Christine Jorgensen Reveals stars Bradford Louryk, who also conceived the piece. In the production, according to press notes, Louryk "morphs his six-foot frame into a completely convincing demure woman of the 1950s who stands no taller than 5-foot-6-inches in a size ten suit draped over an extremely petite 120-pound figure." Louryk lip-synchs Jorgensen's only recorded interview; his performance "is a one-man-tour-de-force-paintakingly-acurate-reincarnation of those searing and revolutionary 51 minutes," press notes state.

George Jorgensen, who once said, "My only answer is that I am more of a woman than a man," traveled from New York to Denmark in 1952 to undergo a sex-change operation. When he returned to the States as Christine, Jorgensen was the subject of much curiosity and controversy.

The creative team comprises Mary Ping (costume design), Wilson Chin (scenic design), Josh Bradford (lighting design), Rob Kaplowitz (sound design), Kevin Frech (projection design), Jung Griffin (properties design) and Jason P. Hayes (wigs).

Christine Jorgensen Reveals has previously won the Drama Desk Award for Unique Theatrical Experience, The Hilton Edwards Award for Outstanding Production and The Micheal MacLiammoir Award for Best Actor. The play also received a GLAAD Media Award Nomination for Best Play and an IRNE Award Nomination for Best Play.

Show times will be Wednesdays-Saturdays at 8 PM with matinees Saturdays at 2 PM and Sundays at 3 PM.

The Lion Theatre is located in Manhattan at 410 West 42nd Street, between 9th and 10th Avenues. For tickets, priced $48, call (212) 279-4200 or visit
