Christine Toy Johnson Will Direct Alan Campbell in Seminar

News   Christine Toy Johnson Will Direct Alan Campbell in Seminar
Alan Campbell, a Tony nominee for his performance in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Sunset Boulevard, will star in the Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater's upcoming production of Theresa Rebeck's Seminar, which will begin previews May 14 at the Massachusetts venue.

Directed by Christine Toy Johnson, the limited engagement, which runs Thursdays-Mondays, will continue through June 13.

Campbell will be joined onstage by Satomi Blair, Jacob Heimer, Rachel Casparian and local favorite Ben Berry.

A provocative comedy from Pulitzer Prize nominee Rebeck, Seminar, according to press notes, is a "story of four aspiring young novelists who sign up for private writing classes with Leonard (Alan Campbell), an international literary figure. Under his recklessly brilliant and unorthodox instruction, some thrive and others flounder, alliances are made and broken, sex is used as a weapon and hearts are unmoored. The wordplay is not the only thing that turns vicious as innocence collides with experience in this biting Broadway comedy."

The production contains brief female nudity and adult situations.

Seminar opened on Broadway on Nov. 20, 2011, with Alan Rickman in the role of Leonard (replaced by Jeff Goldblum on April 1, 2012), closing after 191 performances. For ticket information visit
