News Circle X Revives Behn's Rover in L.A. to Aug. 23 LOS ANGELES -- Aphra Behn, the best known female playwright of the Restoration age, wrote bawdy and swashbuckling plays, one of which just opened locally.

LOS ANGELES -- Aphra Behn, the best known female playwright of the Restoration age, wrote bawdy and swashbuckling plays, one of which just opened locally.The Rover, set in 17th-century Italy at the time of Carnival, "wends its way around a hundred disguises and deceptions to the very heart of love between two people," said a company spokesperson.

Produced by the Circle X Theatre Co., The Rover, plays Fri-Sun. eves at 8 PM; Sun. at 2 PM through Aug. 23 at the Actor's Gang, 6201 Santa Monica Blvd. in Hollywood. Tickets are $15, with 10 percent of all non-subscription sales to benefit Mary Magdalene Project. Pay-what-you-can matinee performances are July 25 and Aug. 1. Call (213) 969-9239 ext. 2.
