As if to compound criticism of Adrian Noble's move out of the Barbican, the City of London, which owns the whole area of the Barbican Centre, has just announced a huge grant to the complex in which the Barbican Theatre is housed.
The Centre will receive some £31 million for capital works, including massive refurbishment of all foyer areas, which are shared by the Theatre, the Concert Hall and the Cinema.
The Barbican Theatre will continue, post-Royal Shakespeare Company, to host the annual BITE Festival of International Theatre as well as a variety of other theatrical ventures.
