News Clive Rowe to Return to Olivier-Nominated Role in London; Sharon D. Clarke Stars, Too Clive Rowe is to reprise the title role of Mother Goose, for which he was Olivier-nominated in 2009, in the pantomime that will begin performances Nov. 22, prior to an official opening Nov. 27, for a run through Jan. 4 at London's Hackney Empire.

He will be joined by Olivier Award-winning Sharon D. Clarke, who will play the good enchantress Charity.

Both Rowe and Clarke return to Hackney Empire after starring in the critically acclaimed Blues In the Night there earlier this year. Rowe was last seen in a  Hackney Pantomime as Dame Daisy in Jack and the Beanstalk in 2010, and Clarke returns after 2013’s Puss in Boots.

Mother Goose will be directed by the theatre’s artistic director Susie McKenna with music by Steven Edis, their 16th Hackney pantomime.

Set in the merry kingdom of Hackneytopia E8, Hackney Empire’s production features a battle between two Enchantress Sisters, Charity (good, of course) and her evil sibling Vanity, for the soul of our heroine, Mother Goose. Will she be saved by Princess Pricilla, a goose who lays golden eggs?

The production will be designed by Lotte Collett, with choreography/assistant direction by Frank Thompson, musical direction by Mark Dickman, lighting by David W. Kidd, sound by Avgoustos Psillas and creature effects by Scott Brooker. To book tickets, contact the box office on 020 8985 2424 or visit
