Blank Theatre Company is celebrating the opening of it's new, permanent home at the Second Stage Theatre in Hollywood with Hugh Whitmore's Breaking the Code.

In a review, the L.A. Times remarked, "It's an auspicious christening for this ambitious group."

The drama reveals the true story of scientist Alan Turing, who is famous for having broken the German's U-boat Enigma code in World War II and is considered "the father of the computer," yet also suffered great scorn and humiliation in his life for his open homosexuality.

British actor Dennis Christopher, best known for his performance in the film Breaking Away, plays Turing, and although the Times praised many of the performances in the show, it also noted that "they're mere satellites orbiting the blazing performance of Dennis Christopher... Stammering and shy, intense and passionate...[his] Turing is a tragic hero not only for our time but for all time."

The play is directed by the Ovation Award winning director Daniel Henning, the Artistic Director and Producer of The Blank Theatre Company, "whose fluid staging," according to the Times, "results in a multi-layered theatrical tour de force that challenges the mind and wrenches the heart." Breaking the Code runs at the Second Stage Theatre on Theatre Row, 6500 Santa Monica Blvd., Tue-Sat 8pm; Sun 7 PM. Tickets are $22, and are available by calling (213) 660-TKTS.
