Variety reports that Showtime has ordered an additional 12 episodes of the series, which casts Collette as a suburban housewife coping with disassociate identity disorder, formerly known as multiple personality disorder. The cast of "Tara" will begin filming the second season this summer for an early 2010 launch. The new series penned by Academy Award-winning "Juno" screenwriter Diablo Cody premiered to rave reviews on the cable network Jan. 18. John Corbett ("Sex and the City") appears as Collette's sensitive husband with Keir Gilchrist and Brie Larson, who portray the children in the family. Rosemarie DeWitt portrays Collette's insecure sister.

Collette inhabits an array of personalities in the series, including "'T,' a provocative teenager who flits around in midriffs and Daisy Dukes; to 'Buck,' a beer-swilling, trucker-hat wearing Vietnam vet who is prone to violence when (easily) provoked; to 'Alice,' a 1950s Betty Crocker housewife who bakes pies in pumps with nary a meticulously hair-sprayed curl out of place."
