News Color Purple's Withers-Mendes to Celebrate New CD at Joe's Pub Elisabeth Withers-Mendes, who had previously been scheduled to perform at Joe's Pub Dec. 4, will now play the intimate cabaret Feb. 5, 2007.

The evening will celebrate the singing actress' solo debut recording, "It Can Happen to Anyone," which will be released on the Blue Note Records label. Show time is 9:30 PM.

Color Purple marks the Broadway debut for Withers-Mendes, who received a Tony nomination for her performance as Shug Avery. The singer has recorded and performed with such artists as Luther Vandross, Cher, Celine Dion and Henry Krieger. Withers-Mendes also penned the song "Emotions," a number-one hit on the Billboard Charts. Her current single is titled "Be With You."
