News   "Come Look at the Freaks": Side Show to Make Welsh Debut in March
Side Show, the short-lived but acclaimed Broadway musical about the lives of conjoined twins Daisy and Violet Hilton, will makes its debut in Wales in March 2006.

The musical, which features music by Henry Krieger and book and lyrics by Bill Russell, will be presented by the WAWWA Musical Theatre Company at the Dolman Theatre in Newport, South Wales. Performance dates are March 1-4, 2006. Samuel French New York has granted the amateur company a special license to present the musical. Julianna Woods and Becky Davies will star in the WAWWA company as the Hilton sisters with Rob Shaw as Buddy, Neil Harris as Terry, Steve Gerrish as the Boss and Jamie Davies as Jake. Directed by Jay Coleman, the show will feature musical direction by Vicci Smith.

Side Show opened at the Richard Rodgers Theatre Oct. 16, 1997, playing 31 previews and 91 regular performances before closing Jan. 4, 1998. The original Broadway company included Alice Ripley, Emily Skinner, Norm Lewis, Hugh Panaro and Jeff McCarthy. The musical was nominated for four Tony Awards including Best Musical.
