Broadway News Comedian Amy Schumer Reveals She’s Worked With Meteor Shower Playwright Steve Martin Before The star of the upcoming Broadway play appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Emmy winner and Golden Globe nominee Amy Schumer appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! October 16 as his first guest for his stint of Brooklyn shows. Schumer is currently in rehearsal for her Broadway debut, which comes next month in Steve Martin’s new play Meteor Shower.

“He’s my hero,” said Schumer of Martin. The show stars Schumer, Tony winner Laura Benanti, Tony nominee Jeremy Shamos, and Keegan-Michael Key in his Broadway debut. The show follows two couples during a dinner double date, where Corky and Norm (Schumer and Shamos) refuse to engage in small talk and end up in a tumultuous evening—sparks flying.

But this isn’t Schumer’s first time working with Martin. “I met him about ten years ago. I was hosting this music show on the Fuse network with Mark Hoppus. Steve was on with the Steep Canyon Rangers, his bluegrass band,” she explained to host Kimmel. “We had to film these promos, and it was very nice he was willing to do these promos. ... We got to do a bit together, and I walked out into Times Square and I called my mom and my dad and was crying that I got to do a bit with Steve Martin.”

Previews for the limited engagement of Meteor Shower begin November 1 at the Booth Theatre with an official opening set for November 29.

The show enjoyed its world premiere at San Diego’s Old Globe, starring Jenna Fischer (The Office) and Greg Germann. See photos from that production below.
