Casting is now complete for the Kennedy Center's production of Passion, which begins previews at the Eisenhower Theatre on July 19.

Judy Kuhn (Fosca), Michael Cerveris (Giorgio) and Rebecca Luker (Clara) head a 14-member company that also includes John Leslie Wolfe (Colonel Ricci), Philip Goodwin (Doctor Tambourri), Daniel Felton (Lieutenant Torasso), Bob McDonald (Sergeant Lombardi), Lawrence Redmond (Lieutenant Barri), Michael L. Forrest (Major Rizzolli), Will Gartshore (Private Augenti), Teresa Reid (Fosca’s Mother), Stephen Schmidt (Fosca’s Father), Ty Hreben (Ludovic) and Tracy Lynn Olivera (Mistress). Eric Schaeffer, who is the artistic director of the entire Sondheim Celebration, will helm Passion; he directed the recent mounting of Sunday in the Park with George as well.

Based on Ettore Scola's Italian film "Passion d'Amore," Passion opened on Broadway on May 9, 1994, with a cast that featured Jere Shea (Giorgio), Marin Mazzie (Clara) and Donna Murphy (Fosca). The tale of obsessive love includes such Sondheim tunes as "Happiness," "I Read," "I Wish I Could Forget You," "Loving You" and "No One Has Ever Loved Me." The original Broadway production received the 1994 Tony Award for Best Musical; Donna Murphy also garnered her first Tony for Best Actress in a Musical, and Sondheim and Lapine were awarded prizes for, respectively, Best Original Score and Best Book of a Musical.

Passion will play the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts' Eisenhower Theatre (2700 F Street, NW) July 19 through Aug. 23. The much-in-the-news Celebration also includes productions of Merrily We Roll Along, Sunday in the Park with George, Company, A Little Night Music and Sweeney Todd.
