Songwriter David Friedman, who composed the Nancy LaMott anthems "Listen to My Heart" and "Help Is on the Way," will be the special guest at the Dec. 8 and 9 Spiritus concerts at the Soho Playhouse.
The 7:30 PM concerts to benefit the Unity Church of NY Building Fun will feature the talents of vocal ensemble Spiritus, which features Toni Condos, Jeffrey Elsass, Pam Hamilton, Marcus Kettles, Zoe Lyons and Marieann Meringolo. Britt Hall will serve as musical director.
One of New York's leading vocal ensembles, Spiritus' mission is to "bring a spiritual and healing message to its listeners." Tickets for the concerts are priced at $20 in advance and $25 at the door and may be purchased by calling (212) 239-6200. A limited number of "Golden Angel" seats are priced at $100.
David Friedman has served as musical supervisor/director for such Broadway musicals as Saravà, Song and Dance, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Beauty and the Beast. Also an acclaimed songwriter, he has written tunes for Laurie Beechman, Alix Korey, Nancy LaMott and Kathie Lee Gifford. Song titles include "We Can Be Kind," "I'll Be Here With You," "What I Was Dreamin' Of," "Listen to My Heart," "Help Is On the Way" and "My Simple Christmas Wish."
