News Composer Schwartz to Be Honored With Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame Three-time Academy Award-winning composer Stephen Schwartz will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on April 8.

Schwartz, a five-time Tony nominee for the scores of Pippin, Godspell, Working, Wicked and his lyrics for Rags, has earned Academy Awards for "Pocahontas" and "The Prince of Egypt." He earned three Academy Award nominations for his work on this past season's "Enchanted." Schwartz is honored with the Walk of Fame's 2,359th star for his contributions to live theatre. Cast members from the Los Angeles company of Wicked will perform during the event.

The star will be unveiled at 11:30 AM on Hollywood Boulevard in front of the Pantages Theatre, where Wicked is currently in the second year of its run. That production will close Jan. 11, 2009, as reported April 1.

Stephen Schwartz has earned Grammy Awards for the recordings of Wicked, Godspell and "Pocahontas." His works for the stage also include the title song for the play Butterflies Are Free, as well as the scores for The Baker's Wife, The Magic Show, Children of Eden, The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Captain Louie.
